You might not have realised it, but the Great Singapore Sale (GSS) has started to gain some significant traction again, and we’re at that time of the year once more (yes, it’s already June!). A report by the Singapore Department of Statistics last year showed a recovery from the slump in 2016, with 2 – 4.1% increase in retail sales in June to August 2017 as compared to the previous year.

There are several reasons for this, but we’re certainly excited to see what this year’s GSS has to offer, and here are some ways in which you can make the most out of GSS 2018.

 

1. Get rewarded for card spend

Taking advantage of special offers during this period can help you to get a little bit more out of your expenditure than you usually would. One example would be Standard Chartered’s Shop to Win 2018 Promotion, which gives you a chance to win up to $100 cashback, plus the chance to win an additional $3,000 cashback. Here’s how it works:

2. Save time finding the right deals with the GoSpree app

Launched by the Singapore Retailers’ Association (SRA), this app was one of the key success factors for GSS 2017. The app aggregated deals across over 200 participating brands, with exclusive offers and discounts only available through the app.

The use of technology to optimise the GSS experience is definitely a huge improvement in the overall retail experience. Previously, most shoppers in a mall would have to walk around figuring out if there were any relevant offers for them. More often than not, this would result in a lot of “fruitless” walking around and wasted time.

But now, with the GoSpree app, you can first see what offers appeal to you and be a lot more efficient with your shopping compared to having to fight the crowds just in the hope that you will find an offer attractive to you. Hopefully, this year will see an even better set of discounts and, given its previous success, a wider range of merchants as well.

 

3. Optimise your savings on Grab rides to your shopping destinations

Coupled with a more targeted shopping experience using the GoSpree app, you can also get more cashback from your Grab rides this GSS. From now till 31 July 2018, enjoy up to 20% cashback# on Grab rides booked via the Grab app in Singapore and overseas (capped at $30/month per cardholder).

Simply charge a monthly minimum of $900 in total eligible retail spends (not just on Grab App) to your Standard Chartered Credit Card.

Shop to Win 2018 Promotion Terms and Conditions

The Shop to Win 2018 Promotion (“Promotion”) consisting of, among others, the Spin The Wheel Promotion and the Lucky Draw Promotion, is available from 16 May to 15 July 2018 (both dates inclusive) (the “Promotion Period”). The Promotion is valid for eligible Standard Chartered Credit Cards (“Cards”) issued by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (“Bank”) (collectively, “Eligible Cardholders“). To be eligible for the Promotion, Eligible Cardholders must be amongst the first 100,000 to successfully register their Card during the Registration Period (as defined subsequently). For the Spin The Wheel Promotion, the registration period is from 14 May to 13 July 2018 (both dates inclusive) (“Spin The Wheel Registration Period”). 2 calendar days from the time of registration is required for successful registration for the Spin The Wheel Promotion. For the Lucky Draw Promotion, the registration period is from 14 May to 15 July 2018 (both dates inclusive) (“Lucky Draw Registration Period” and together with the Spin The Wheel Registration Period, the “Registration Period”).
