5 Deliciously Affordable Pizza Places to Check Out

Who doesn’t like pizza right? It’s such a simple, yet perfect dish – you have deliciously baked bread that’s topped with tomato sauce, melted mozzarella cheese and just about any savoury toppings you can think of!

Pizza is one of those unique foods that are perfect for just about any occasion – and I’m not just saying that because it’s probably the only food I wouldn’t get tired of eating every day.

I mean, it can’t be THAT bad for you if this guy could eat it every day for 25 years (don’t worry – he only got diabetes out of this delicious arrangement).

Seriously though, if you want good pizza at a decent price in Singapore – look no further than this article.

Here are 5 mouth-watering pizza places that are guaranteed to satisfy both your hunger and your budget:

#1 The Manhattan Pizza Co

The Manhattan Pizza Co is something of a unique entity when it comes to pizza places in Singapore as it offers New York-style pizza. If you’ve been to New York during your travels, you’ll instantly recognize many of the features about this style of pizza – the mammoth size (10-inches), thin, foldable crust, tangy sauce and generous amounts of cheese and toppings.

Yeah, your eyes will probably go wide if you haven’t seen the sight of New York-style pizza yet.

This place is also known for its 20” whole pizzas, which can easily feed you and about 4-5 of your friends at a reasonable price of $35 to $45. It also offers 9 different toppings ranging from the classic “margherita” to seafood and even roast duck.

As for promotions, The Manhattan Pizza Co offers weekly specials (you can check the website) and routinely offers Groupon promotions for its $15 all-you-can-eat special.

#2 Gourmet Pizza To Go

Gourmet Pizza To Go is a pizza place I tried recently at its stall at the Geylang Serai Bazaar. There aren’t many things that’ll distract me from the goodness of fresh shawarma, but this place did it – and my taste buds were very thankful.

Like the Manhattan Pizza Co, this place is immediately recognisable for its sizeable slices of pizza. Gourmet Pizza To Go takes a different approach to making pizza – relying on style Al Taglio, which features a thicker crust that’s cut in a rectangular shape, tangy sauce and PLENTY of cheese.

Gourmet Pizza To Go features 13 toppings ranging from four cheese to chicken fajita.

Each slice retails for $6 and that’s seriously enough for most appetites. Gourmet Pizza To Go also offers round 9” pizzas to go and a whole Al Taglio pizza for $65 (yeah, this one will easily feed 10 or more people).

As for promotions, it offers daily lunch specials and your standard pizza deal (ex. 2 9” pizzas, starter and 2 1.5L bottles of soda for $43.90).

#3 Spizza

Spizza offers pizza that most Singaporeans are familiar with – 10” or 12” thin-crust pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven the traditional Italian way. So expect to be treated to a warm, fluffy crust that’s topped with just the right amount of sauce and cheese, but with plenty of fresh toppings (did I mention they make their own pizza dough too?).

As for toppings, well… it doesn’t get much “plainer” than the margherita, which features buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil. However, the 26 different pizzas on the menu have toppings that can get pretty exotic – with offerings such as the “Ymilia,” which features buffalo mozzarella, goat cheese, tomato slices, parma ham, oregano, basil and extra virgin olive oil.

This place is perfect for small gatherings among friends or even dates!

Yes, it’s a bit more high-end when it comes to pizzerias, but when you compare the quality of Spizza’s delicious offerings to certain pizzerias you might see at say… Marina Bay Shopping Centre, the value of what you get really makes Spizza really worth it.

As for promotions, be sure to check the website. Currently, it’s offering a $12 beer & pizza/pasta lunchtime special.

Location: 29 Club Street

Contact: 6224-2525

Hours: Monday-Friday (12pm-230pm/6pm-1030pm) Saturday-Sunday (12pm-1030pm)

#4  The Pizza Place

The Pizza Place is perfect for those of you who want to dine at an honest, delicious, no frills pizzeria. Seriously, if you’re too scared to move out of your pizza “comfort zone” that includes *shudder* Pizza Hut and Dominoes – then this is the perfect place for you.

The pizza is made in a deep-dish fashion that’s similar to what you’d find at pizza hut – but that’s where the similarities end. The crust is thick, yet soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, the tomato sauce is tangy and the cheese and topics are deliciously generous.

As for variety of toppings, The Pizza Place features 26 different types ranging from the classic “triple-cheese” pizza to the classy “spinach & ricotta” pizza. As for sizes, The Pizza Place offers a regular 10” and 14” in pizzas – more than enough to feed a small- or medium-sized group.

As for promotions, The Pizza Place currently has none.

Location: 252 North Bridge Road, #B1-16 Raffles City Shopping Centre

#5 La Pizzaiola

La Pizzaiola is one of those pizzerias that should be included in any article mentioning pizza places to visit in Singapore. There’s no doubt about it – La Pizzaiola offers authentic Italian pizza baked in a wood-fired stove straight from… you guessed it, Italy.

So expect to bite into a light, airy crust that’s topped with a just the right amount of sauce, cheese and toppings. Seriously, you’ll end up paying a fortune to get the same thing in some of Singapore’s “exclusive” restaurants offering wood-fired pizzas that frankly, aren’t as good.

While Spizza might share some familiar traits with La Pizzaiola such as the classy setting and method of making pizza – a head-to-head comparison of the two is likely to be a close call. In my opinion, La Pizzaiola wins on price and authenticity, but both are great places you must try!

La Pizzaiola only offers half the amount of choices some of the other pizzerias on this list have. But each choice on the La Pizziola menu is handcrafted to be deliciously simple with fresh toppings ranging from the diavola (tomatoes, mozzarella and spicy salami) to the fruiti di mare (fresh prawn, squid, mussels, tomatoes and mozzarella).

As for promotions, La Pizzaiola currently has none.

Location: 15-3 Jalan Riang, Braddell Heights Estate

Contact: 6282-5031

Hours:  Daily (1130am-3pm/530pm-1030pm)

Damage: $18+
