HDB E-Services Guide – How to Follow Up on Your BTO Application

hdb e services

If you’re in the midst of applying for a BTO or waiting for your BTO to be completed, you probably wish you had the HDB hotline on speed dial for your burning questions, like “Did I get a ballot number?” and “What’s the status of my application?”

Actually, the HDB e-services portal probably has all the answers. But whether or not you can find it is another thing. So we’ve compiled a useful list of links for anyone who’s in BTO purgatory.

BTO flat timeline – when do you need to contact HDB?

It’s a long (and tedious) journey from the sales launch announcement to the day you move into your new home, and you’ll definitely be stalking HDB every step of the way.

Let’s have a look at the typical HDB BTO flat application timeline:

  1. Announcement of BTO sales launch (quarterly)
  2. Flat applications open online (1 week from announcement)
  3. Ballot results (1.5 months from closing of application period)
  4. Flat selection (begins 1 to 2 weeks from the release of ballot results, depends on your queue position)
  5. Apply for housing grants
  6. Sign the Agreement for Lease (within 4 months of booking your flat)
  7. BTO keys collection (by the estimated completion date of your project)

The time between step 1 and step 6 is at least 6 months. Between stages, you will have questions and you will run into complications with your application.

HDB’s main website, a.k.a. HDB infoweb, has a ton of information and e-services, but it can get confusing, especially if you’re a super kan-chiong and kiasu first-time homebuyer.

The HDB e-services page is the main page where you can find links to all things related to purchasing a HDB flat in Singapore.

These are the 5 most helpful e-services for most HDB buyers:

Check your HDB flat & HDB housing loan eligibility

If you just got engaged (or are a swinging single who just turned 35), you can check your eligibility for HDB flats to see if you qualify to apply for BTO, SBF or ROF flats. You can also check your Housing Loan Eligibility (HLE) for HDB housing loans.

You can find information on the different schemes to apply under (like the Fiancé-fiancée Scheme or Single Singapore Citizen Scheme), and will be prompted to fill in your profile for assessment.

Calculate your monthly loan instalments

Based on your loan amount and repayment period, HDB’s e-services portal has a calculator to help you do the math to find out how much you can expect to pay each month. You may input your own bank’s interest rate, or choose the current HDB housing loan rate.

Manage your HDB application at the My HDB Page

For those who have already applied for their HDB BTO, SBF or ROF flats, the My HDB Page is an all-in portal for homebuyers to track their transactions and various home-related applications, such as settling your Housing Loan Eligibility (HLE) letter application. You need to log in using your SingPass.

Check your BTO HDB flat application status

If you’ve already applied for your and are anxiously waiting for the results, you can check the status and results of your application through the HDB’s e-services instead of spamming HDB’s social media channels. There are two separate links – one for BTO, SBF or ROF applications, and another one for resale flats.

See which HDB flats are available for selection

For those who have received a ballot number and have an appointment to choose a unit, you can also check out the flats available for selection. Most people at this stage stalk the page when the date draws close to their appointments – it’s best to pick a few back-up units in case your first few choices are snapped up by those before you in the queue.
