Marina Bay Countdown 2019
It’s crazy to think that Marina Bay Sands only opened 8.5 years ago, because it’s now become pretty much synonymous with the Singapore skyline. So it’s no surprise that a huge countdown party—in fact 2018/2019’s biggest—is being planned at Marina Bay and the Civic District.
Expect fireworks at midnight that should be visible from most parts of the area. In the lead-up to and aftermath of the countdown, you’ll also get to see light projections on iconic landmarks in the Marina Bay area.
This isn’t going to be one single party. Instead, the entire area will be broken up into many different zones with random events like movie screenings, dance parties and so on. Whether you’re enjoying a live performance at the Esplanade, going for carnival rides at Prudential Marina Bay Carnival, stuffing your face at the Marina Bay Sand Food Truck Fest or indulging your inner auntie/uncle at Mediacorp’s countdown concert at The Promontory, you’ll be glad to know that many of festivities will be free, although you’ll have to be prepared to brave the crowds. See the full list of Marina Bay events.
Price: Many events and performances will be free
Star Island Marina Bay Countdown 2019
So, if the Marina Bay Countdown is a massive celebration stretching all the way from the Esplanade to Raffles Place to Marina Bay, where are the hotspots to make a beeline for?
If your main reason for braving the crowds is to catch the fireworks and the live performances, the Star Island Marina Bay Countdown is where it’s at. That’s because the fireworks are actually part of a bigger Star Island musical extravaganza. It’s an actual show, so you’ll have to buy tickets and reserve seats in advance. This isn’t a bad thing, as it means you won’t have to jostle with MRT cabin-level crowds to watch the show.
The event will take place at The [email protected] Bay and is slated to be a huge performance featuring acrobats, Taiko drummers and fire dancers, amongst other performers. The waterfront area transforms into a huge dance floor in the lead-up to the countdown and then culminates in an hour-long fireworks extravaganza.
Price: Early bird tickets start from $30, while premier Section 1 tickets cost $78 if you miss the early bird prices
Arbora at Mt Faber Countdown Party 2019
You don’t have to be a canoodling couple to be at Mount Faber on New Year’s Eve… but it certainly helps.
Arbora, a hilltop restaurant located on Mount Faber, is a good starting point from which to enjoy Faber Peak’s Enchanted Forest-themed New Year’s Eve celebrations.
At Arbora, a magic show and party games will be organised, and a DJ and live band will provide entertainment in the lead up to midnight, when the fireworks begin.
Price: $98++ for 4-course New Year’s Eve menu, $35++ to $55++ for snack platers. Guests who arrive after dinner service ends at 9pm pay $39++ cover charge, which includes two drinks
Siloso Beach Party Countdown 2019
Siloso Beach started organising beach parties on New Year’s Eve back in the days when Punggol was a still swamp, and they’re still going strong.
And like every year, expect a massive party with DJs spinning, lots of alcohol, fireworks at the countdown and a foam zone, which is one big reason you should bring swimwear even if you can’t swim. There’ll also be many
If you’re not renting a room at Sentosa, remember to factor in the cost of transportation out of Sentosa after the countdown, bearing in mind that taxis and private hire cars will be in short supply. Alternatively, as the party is on till 6am, you can just take the bus or MRT home.
Judging from the prices below, you could spend anywhere between a minimum of $46.60 per person and a maximum of $277.60. Find 3 buddies to go with you and you can get cheaper tickets!
- Admission $58 + 1 drink
- Admission $66.50 + 1 drink + Sentosa Islander Membership
- Admission for 4 $185.60 + 1 drink each
- VIP admission $108 + 3 drinks
- $1,388 Club 5 VIP bundle
Bar Rouge Swissotel Countdown Party 2019
Bar Rouge, perched on the 71st and 72nd floor of Swissôtel The Stamford, offers more-than-nice views over the CBD and Marina Bay, if you don’t mind being indoors when the fireworks go off, that is.
Their Electric Sky New Year’s Eve Countdown Party rages till 6am, and the dress code is “silver glam”.
It might be a bit of a squeeze, but the crowds will at least be a tad less aggressive than those at ground level in the CBD area.
Price: $50, includes a glass of champagne
Ce La Vi MBS Countdown Party 2019
These days, a party isn’t considered impressive unless it offers an aerial view of Singapore. And Ce La Vie is probably Singapore’s most famous rooftop bar. So of course they’ll be hosting a high profile countdown party. This year’s party promises to be a bling-bling affair with a big glitter ball over the dance floor.
One advantage of partying at Ce La Vi is that there’ll be a good view of the fireworks at Marina Bay. The disadvantage is that the Club Lounge terrace is always crowded and unless you book a table in advance, be prepared to fight to get a good spot. You’ll have to pay more to gain access to the SkyBar.
Price: $138, includes 1 glass of champagne
Aura Singapore Countdown Party 2019
So, getting elbowed in the face by drunk people isn’t your idea of a fun night? Head to Aura, the National Gallery’s in-house restaurant, for a civilised New Year’s Eve dinner instead.
Early diners will order from the à la carte menu from 6-8pm, and for those arriving from 8:30pm onwards, a $208, 5-course meal awaits. Dinner guests get free entry to the Sky Lounge, which is a good spot for firework-watching.
Alternatively, if you don’t wish to dine at the restaurant, you can reserve tables at the Sky Lounge. But be warned that they’re not cheap. $600 will get you a table for up to four people and your choice of champagne or spirits.
Price: $208 for 5-course dinner and/or $600 for SkyLounge table for four + one selection of champagne/spirits
Supply & Demand at Esplanade New Year’s Eve Countdown 2019
Another great place to watch fireworks is the Esplanade Rooftop. But if you don’t want to squeeze with members of public, you can head in to Supply & Demand, the bistro and bar at the rooftop.
The Italian set dinner costs $78++ for Level 1 access and if you want to head straight to the rooftop bar it would cost $108++ with complimentary drinks and welcome canapés. If you want to go for both levels, you can get Dual Access, which costs $168++.
You can call 6336 0588 or email [email protected] to book your seats.
Price: $78++ to $168++
LeVel33 (MBFC) New Year’s Eve Party 2019
LeVel33 is hugely popular with the CBD crowd thanks to its good views of Marina Bay and the fact that it’s one of the few microbreweries with a prime CBD location on a high floor.
Details about their annual countdown party have not been released yet, but last year they offered a free flow of finger food, beer, wine and juice for an hour until midnight.
