What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the phrase, “The men don’t get it”. Menstrual cramps? Menopause? Notice these words all start with “men”? Ha ha.

Jokes aside, “The men don’t get it” has got to be one of the best credit card marketing slogans ever.

It created a mysterious sense of exclusivity, causing even men to wonder. What exactly was so special about credit cards that only women can apply? Turned out, they simply milked the cliche that women shop more. The UOB Lady’s Card and the DBS Woman’s Card are great for earning rewards/miles not just in shopping categories. But which one is better?

Let’s do a head-to-head comparison between the DBS Woman’s Card and the UOB Lady’s Card.

DBS Woman’s Card vs UOB Lady’s Card: Limitations

Okay, we’ve gone through the benefits. What are some limitations?

The main limitation for the DBS Woman’s World Card is that the points expire after 1 year. This is quite short, given that DBS Altitude’s points never expire. It means that you have to remember to redeem your points or *gasp* risk having them expire.

DBS Woman’s Platinum Cardmembers earn 5 DBS Points for every $5 online retail purchase, capped at $1,000 spend on online retail purchase per month. DBS Woman’s World Cardmembers earn 10 DBS Points for every $5 online retail purchase, capped at $2,000 spend on online retail purchase per month, and 3 DBS Points for every $5 equivalent in foreign currency purchase.

If you’ve the UOB Lady’s Classic/Lady’s Platinum card, the maximum UNI$ that you can earn per month is UNI$1,800. With the Lady’s Solitaire/Lady’s Solitaire Metal, the maximum limit is UNI$5,400. After which, 1X UNI$ will be awarded for every $5 spend — with no cap to it.

DBS Woman’s Card privileges vs UOB Lady’s Card privileges

The privileges for these ladies’ cards used to be better. DBS used to offer complimentary yoga classes and UOB had complimentary spa sessions at various places.

Now, the privileges are more like deals a.k.a. they’re not complimentary.

DBS Woman’s Card vs UOB Lady’s Card: Eligibility

The entry-level ladies’ cards are DBS Woman’s Card and UOB Lady’s Card. You can apply with a minimum annual income of $30,000.

Then, for those upper middle class women with an annual income of $80,000, there’s the DBS Woman’s World Card, which offers significantly better earn rate. If you can qualify for the DBS Woman’s World Card rather than the DBS Woman’s Card, you earn double the points!

In addition to UOB Lady’s Solitaire credit card for the high net worth woman who earns $120,000 a year, there’s the UOB Lady’s Solitaire Metal Card which is by invitation only.

So which is the best card for the ladies?

It’s no surprise that the UOB Lady’s Card comes up top. In terms of shopping, wellness, beauty and fitness, they are the one to beat and unfortunately, DBS doesn’t come close.

We also like that UOB Lady’s Card allows the flexibility of choosing where to earn $1 = 4 miles, at that’s even at an entry-level income of $30,000.

For DBS, you need to earn at least $80,000 a year to qualify for the DBS Woman’s World Card, in order to get $1 = 4 miles on online shopping.

As an added bonus, the UOB Lady’s Card is gorgeous, designed by local Singaporean designer Priscilla Shunmugam. The DBS Woman’s Card and Woman’s World Card pale in comparison.
