DBS Woman’s Card vs UOB Lady’s Card — 2020 Comparison of Rewards & Privileges

ladies card

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the phrase, “The men don’t get it”. Menstrual cramps? Menopause? Notice these words all start with “men”? Ha ha.

Jokes aside, “The men don’t get it” has got to be one of the best credit card marketing slogans ever.

It created a mysterious sense of exclusivity, causing even men to wonder. What exactly was so special about these credit cards that only women can apply? Turned out, they simply milked the cliche that women shop more.

(Heads-up: Men can apply for the DBS Woman’s World Card & DBS Woman’s Card too!)

Thankfully, a 2019 update for the UOB Lady’s Card makes it quite a good card for earning rewards/miles, and not just in shopping categories. So now, which ladies’ card is better?

Let’s do a head-to-head comparison between the DBS Woman’s Card and the UOB Lady’s Card.

DBS Woman’s Card vs UOB Lady’s Card: Rewards & benefits

DBS Woman’s Card offers 5X DBS Points (or 10 miles) per $5 spent on online shopping purchases. All other spend gets 1X DBS Points. This translates to $1 = 2 miles.

If you qualify for the DBS Woman’s World card, meaning you earn more than $80,000 a year, you get double the DBS points at 10X DBS Points (or 20 miles) per $5 spent on online shopping purchases, translating to $1 = 4 miles.

You can also get a higher earn rate for overseas spending with the DBS Woman’s World Card at 3X DBS Points or 6 miles per $5 spent.

In comparison, the UOB Lady’s Card also offers $1 = 4 miles without limiting to shopping categories. The bank finally recognised that not every “lady” just shops all the time. Thank God.

The UOB Lady’s Card lets you earn 10X UNI$ (UOB rewards points) on any ONE category of your choosing. That’s $1 = 4 air miles, which is a great earn rate.

You can choose from these categories: Beauty & Wellness, Fashion, Dining, Family (including groceries), Travel, Transport (petrol included), Entertainment (nightlife, movies). This category can be changed every quarter.

If you do love shopping and your preferred category is Fashion, you get a promotional up to 12X UNI$ (or 24 miles) with every $5 spend at Lazada, Qoo10 and Taobao with no minimum spend required. That’s $1 = 4.8 miles! Valid until 31 March 2020.

DBS Woman’s Card vs UOB Lady’s Card: Limitations

Okay, we’ve gone through the benefits. What are some limitations?

The main limitation for the DBS Woman’s World Card is that the miles expire after 1 year. This is quite short, given that DBS Altitude’s miles never expire and Citi Rewards’ miles last for 5 years. It means that you have to remember to redeem your miles or *gasp* have your miles expire.

DBS Woman’s Card and UOB Lady’s Card offers bonus points for the first $1,000 only while DBS Woman’s World Card offers bonus miles up to $2,000 a month.

The obvious limitation for UOB Lady’s Card is that only females can apply. Despite their names, men can apply for DBS Woman’s Card and DBS Woman’s World Card.

DBS Woman’s Card privileges vs UOB Lady’s Card privileges

The privileges for these ladies’ cards used to be better. DBS used to offer complimentary yoga classes and UOB had complimentary spa sessions at various places.

Now, the privileges are more like deals a.k.a. they’re not complimentary.

For DBS Woman’s Card/Woman’s World Card, you have discounted facials at Jean Yip, 1-for-1 Antoinette high tea set, $18 off KLOOK activities, and $15 off minimum spend of $180 at Sephora.

UOB Lady’s Card cardholders are entitled to a complimentary hair treatment session at DrHair and a facial session at Hi & Lift Skin.

The card also entitles you to promotions like 10% at STRIP salon and Browhaus, 2 classes at $30 at BBounce Studio and BEATX Studio. There are also some 1-for-1 hotel buffets and exclusive foodpanda promo codes.

UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card comes with more travel privileges such as 6 complimentary lounge access passes and complimentary airport limousine rides.

DBS Woman’s Card vs UOB Lady’s Card: Eligibility

The entry-level ladies’ cards are DBS Woman’s Card and UOB Lady’s Card. You can apply with a minimum annual income of $30,000.

Then, for those upper middle class women with an annual income of $80,000, there’s the DBS Woman’s World Card, which offers significantly better earn rate. If you can qualify for the DBS Woman’s World Card rather than the DBS Woman’s Card, you earn double the points!

UOB also has UOB Lady’s Solitaire credit card, for the high net worth woman who earns $120,000 a year. The card is by invitation only.

So which is the best card for the ladies?

It’s no surprise that the UOB Lady’s Card comes up top. In terms of shopping, wellness, beauty and fitness, they are the one to beat and unfortunately, DBS doesn’t come close.

We also like that UOB Lady’s Card allows the flexibility of choosing where to earn $1 = 4 miles, at that’s even at an entry-level income of $30,000.

For DBS, you need to earn at least $80,000 a year to qualify for the DBS Woman’s World Card, in order to get $1 = 4 miles on online shopping.

As an added bonus, the UOB Lady’s Card is gorgeous, designed by local Singaporean designer Priscilla Shunmugam. The DBS Woman’s Card / Woman’s World Card pale in comparison.
