Secondary school kids complain like crazy about having to complete their 2.4 km run under the hot sun. But hey, at least it’s free!
If you’ve ever participated in a half-marathon, full-marathon or fun run, you’ll know that organised runs as an adult don’t come cheap. In addition, after training all year, you want to make the most of all that effort by joining multiple runs, which means opening your wallet multiple times.
Anyone who wants to participate in a few runs a year needs to know about the U Run All Access Package, an annual running package by U Sports, which is the sporting community of NTUC Club.
The package basically nets you three runs at a discounted price, and while their standard ‘Competitive’ Package has been around for a while, they now also offer a Fun Package for those who want to participate in novelty runs like the Pokemon Run and Blacklight Run.
Here’s a price comparison to see just how much you can save:
List of runs you can join with U Run All Access Packages
First, here’s the list of runs available with the two NTUC U Run Packages. As you’ll notice, there’s a mix of both competitive runs and fun runs in each of the packages, so you have a wider variety to choose from!

And now, let’s check out how much it would cost you to participate in each of these runs without a package.
Note that the entry fees for some of next year’s runs haven’t been announced yet, so prices are based on the cost for the 2016 run.

CSC Run by the Bay
Newton Challenge
Standard Chartered Marathon
Price list for Fun runs
Puma Night Run
Blacklight Run
Garfield Run
My Little Pony Friendship Run
*Race categories or registration fees of running events may vary in 2017. U Run All Access packages are applicable for individual runs only, for participants age 18 and above.
Other perks
One big advantage of getting a package is that you’re guaranteed a slot at any of the listed races.
Some of the more popular runs are notorious for selling out annoyingly quickly, with some tickets even selling out within 3 hours of becoming available. You won’t have to worry about that with a package, which is great news.
Booking is also easy, as you can just log onto the U Run All Access portal and make your reservation online using your race credits, instead of fumbling your way through the various race organisers’ websites.
How much can you save with the U Run All Access Package?
The beauty of these packages is that you are free to sign up for the most expensive runs on the list, runs that you might otherwise have given a miss due to the price.
As mentioned earlier, many of the above prices are actually from 2016. When the 2017 prices are announced, don’t be surprised if they’re higher because, well, that’s how things roll here.
With the ‘Competitive’ Package, you could enjoy these three runs:
- Runners Convention 31.5 km: $98
- OSIM Sundown Marathon 21.1 km: $80
- Standard Chartered Marathon 42.195 km: $100
Total cost without package: $278
With U Run All Access ‘Competitive’ Package, you save: $110
Let’s do the same for the Fun Package:
- Men’s Health Urbanathlon: $128
- Blacklight Run: $95
- Safari Zoo Run: $80
Total cost without package: $303
With U Run All Access ‘Fun’ Package, you save: $55
