It seems like full combat sports are all the rage these days. Maybe because they’re an effective way to deal with actual rage.
Instead of punching your boss or your ex-partner, punching something or someone else is therapeutic enough.
Along with breathing techniques, combat sports like boxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiujitsu can be calming. Certain types use dance choreography coupled with upbeat music and light movements, which give a good cardio workout and help release pent up stress.
What is MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)?
MMA is a combination of Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling and boxing. Most of the time, MMA studios have these 4 sports taught in separate and specially designed classes.
If you are worried that it sounds too intense, don’t worry. People of all fitness levels can have a go at MMA or other martial art sports. Whether your goal is to shed some weight, strengthen your body, learn some self-defence skills or just to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you’ll be able to find a suitable studio and class.

The classes, however, will not take place inside the boxing ring because Uppercut is a non-combat studio so no sparring is involved. Classes are held in their very fancy workout studio instead which features a cool atmosphere with colourful lights.
Workout sessions are choreographed with hip-hop music and neon lights to get you into the mood for some serious exercise.
The general dim lighting also gives you some sort of privacy and saves you embarrassment from any weird facial expressions when you exert force. Another plus point is their clean and pleasant shower area, fully equipped with fresh towels, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and other toiletries. There’s a small retail section in the school for sports wear.
