There’s a reason Singaporeans in Thailand or JB go for spa treatments so often it’s almost as if they’re banned back home. An hour or two can set you back at least $150 to $200 at mid-range spas in Singapore. With prices so prohibitive, it’s not surprising that many people prefer to buy overpriced massage chairs that feel only 0.05% as good as the real thing.
We’ve ferreted out some of the best spa deals on the island so you can get your fix the next time the stress levels skyrocket (this being Singapore, that will probably happen in the next 5 minutes).
1. Tamarind Spa
You might not have heard of Tamarind Spa, as its three outlets are located in the suburbs of Bukit Timah, Upper Thomson and Serangoon Gardens. But it’s worth getting familiar with them as they offer some of the best value on body massages. Any cheaper than that and you’ll have to head to a no-frills massage parlour.
Price of 1 hour Balinese, Javanese or Aromatherapy Massage: $70. You also get 20% off on your birthday month.
2. Nimble/Knead
This boutique spa at Tiong Bahru looks just as hipster as its surroundings, kitted out in industrial chic. Prices for a 60 minute massage hover on the lower end of the scale at well under $100. Considering the very stylish interior (you won’t have to worry about being accosted by garish slimming ads here), this is quite a steal.
Price of 1 hour Thai, Balinese, Swedish, Tuina or Thai-Shiatsu massage: $76
3. Rule of Thumb Sanctuary Spa
The modern, tech-savvy concept at Rule of Thumb on Beach Road might not be for everyone—think movie screenings are you enjoy a foot massage. While there’ll be no movie-watching as you enjoy a body massage, the interior is clean and modern and prices are very, very affordable. Another plus is that it’s open until 4am every day.
Price of 1 hour Shiatsu, Relaxation, Deep Tissue, Back, Javanese, Swedish, Traditional Chinese Herb or Aromatherapy Massage: $60
4. Healing Touch
This is a simple spa that serves up affordable massages. In my opinion, the interior is fairly peaceful but nothing to shout about. However, prices are unbeatable, and there are branches in Yishun, Alexandra, Thomson, Novena, River Valley and Tampines, which makes this a good option for an impromptu post-work spa treatment.
Price: 1 hour Asian Fusion Oil, Deep Tissue Oil, Javanese Fusion Oil or Shiatsu massag: $55 (not including GST)
5. The Spa Artisan
Let’s be honest—there’s quite a bit of difference in the atmosphere and quality of treatments at higher end, more luxurious spas. At The Spa Artisan located at the Fullerton Hotel, you can get the kind of luxury you’ve been craving. The prices at The Spa Artisan are about double of those the more affordable spas on this list. But with the Entertainer app, you get to enjoy a 1-for-1 offer on their Artisan Touch massage, bringing the price-per-massage down to a very affordable sub-$80.
Cost of 60 minute Artisan Touch massage: $140 or $70 with the Entertainer app.
6. Spa Elements
Another of the more luxurious spas on this list, Spa Elements at ION Orchard doesn’t offer cheap treatments, but this is countered by a number of promotions that can really help you to save. The Entertainer app has a 1-for-1 deal on the De-Stress Body Massage. In addition, if you’re a first-timer, check out their website for a bunch of great promotions, like a Full Body Massage + Body Enhancement at a very affordable $68.
Cost of 1 hour De-Stress Body Massage: $149 or $74.50 with the Entertainer app.
7. A Fond Spa
With branches at Holland Village and Chinatown, a Fond Spa is not cheap, with most 60 minute massages going at around $140. But if you’re a first-time customer and come in from Mondays to Fridays from 11am to 5pm, they offer a deep discount off their regular prices with the Swedish full body massage going at $68—that’s over a 50% discount. Next time you take leave or go on MC, you know how to spend your morning.
Cost of 1 hour Swedish massage: $68 for first-time customers during off-peak hours
