The easiest way to spot a group of Singaporeans overseas is to watch them whip out their smartphones at the first cafe they sit down in and check for free wifi.

The internet is now an integral part of the travel experience. We book our air tickets and accommodation online, navigate using Google Maps, search for recommendations on Tripadvisor and get Uber drivers to ferry us around.

What’s more, without Internet access, we have no way to share pictures of our travels, update our loved ones back home of our whereabouts or reluctantly respond to work-related emails.

Stay connected to the internet when you travel with GOMO

Thanks to the GOMO Travel SIM, you’ll never again have to fumble with cumbersome wifi log-in pages or hunt down telco shops that won’t rip you off. In case you’re wondering, GOMO stands for Get Out More Often.

Once you step off the plane, instantly connect to the Internet using your GOMO Travel SIM, and stay connected throughout your trip. No more desperately trying to find a place to buy a local SIM card with travel data or worrying about paying exorbitant roaming charges.

Using your GOMO Travel SIM is as easy as completing a simple 1-minute DIY activation process and popping it into your phone. There is no need to go through a lengthy sign-up process days in advance. You can buy your GOMO Travel SIM at Changi Airport minutes before your departure, or even months in advance! Anyone can use a GOMO Travel SIM regardless of their telco.

How much does it cost?

For just $20, GOMO Travel SIM gets you 3GB of data for a period of 10 days, perfect for trips around the region.

Unlike month-long plans, you don’t have to worry about paying for an unnecessarily long period. And with 3GB of data, you can surf to your heart’s content without worrying about busting your data limit or paying excessive charges. Check your data usage on the GOMO website at any time just to be sure.

Plus, the GOMO Travel SIM is powered by Singtel and taps on their partner telco networks (and often the most reliable ones) in each country so you can ensure a smooth connection while travelling.

Where can you use GOMO Travel SIM?

Use your GOMO Travel SIM on your travels at the following 8 destinations:

  • Australia
  • Hong Kong
  • Indonesia
  • Macau
  • Malaysia
  • Philippines
  • Taiwan
  • Thailand

Each GOMO Travel SIM can be used at any or all of the above destinations.

So if you are travelling to more than one of the above places, you can use the same GOMO Travel SIM without changing out your SIM card. It doesn’t get any more convenient than that!

Where to buy GOMO Travel SIM

You can pick up one at retail stores islandwide, at the airport or online. GOMO Travel SIMs are available for purchase at the following places:

  • 7-Eleven outlets
  • Any Singtel Shop or Singtel Exclusive Retailer
  • Travelex Currency Exchange counters at Changi Airport (Departure Hall at T1, T2, T3 and T4)
  • Authorised mobile retailers islandwide
  • Online on Qoo10, Lazada or Shopee.

Remember to activate your SIM card before you fly off. Here’s all you need to do:

  1. Go to gomo.sg/activate and key in your GOMO mobile number that starts with 3 and SIM code number
  2. Fill in your passport details and email address.
  3. Once that’s done, you just need to indicate your desired travel date, insert your SIM card on your day of travel and you’re good to go!

In my previous life, I was a property lawyer who spent most of my time struggling to get out of bed or stuck in peak hour traffic. These days, as a freelance commercial writer, I work in bed, on the beach, in parks and at cafes, all while being really frugal. I like helping other people save money so they can stop living lives they don't like.
