Singaporeans reportedly work the longest hours in the world. But we also travel so often that Bangkok is now introducing passport scanners for us. Can’t blame us right? With all that hard work, everyone needs a timeout. You work hard, you play hard. So we go out and get some kick-ass air miles credit cards to get more out of our hard-earned dollars.

Then comes the dilemma. We know business class tickets are more “value for money”, but they cost so many more miles than an economy class ticket.

But what if I told you now that you may not even need to use your miles for those coveted business class tickets?

That’s right. As if the American Express Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Ascend Card doesn’t already have enough enticing benefits, American Express has rolled out a year-long lucky draw to 12 sought-after destinations to give you even more incentives to sign-up with them.

Till 31st March 2018, you can win a pair of business class tickets in this lucky draw every month. Basically, you get:

  • 20 lucky draw chances to win when you sign-up for any American Express Singapore Airlines card,
  • 2 chances for every $50 spent locally,
  • If you’ve spent that S$50 overseas, the good folks at American Express will double your chances. That’s 4 chances per S$50 spent in any foreign currency.

Unfortunately, lucky draw chances earned in a month don’t get carried forward to the next month.

Here’s what it means for you:

You earn lucky draw chances to WIN a pair of business tickets every month instead of just earning air miles

Yes, it’s normally rather painstaking to earn AND hoard those air miles just so you can redeem ONE business class flight. But now you’ll have more reasons to spend, since any purchases you make will be rewarded not just with air miles as per normal, but also earn lucky draw chances.

Do you have any trips coming up? Bring your American Express card with you overseas to earn more miles and double your chances of winning!

You can keep earning lucky draw chances as long as you use your card for your expenses

Unfortunately, the lucky draw chances you’ve earned from previous months can’t be carried forward. But if you missed out or failed to win in a previous month, that should just encourage you to keep spending to earn chances in the following month’s draw!

That’s like giving you unlimited tries for your exams. This month fail ar? Neh-mind. Next month try again lo. Except business class tickets hardly compare to torturous exams…

You may just be able to cross-out that destination from your bucket list of places to visit…

New York, Seoul, Osaka, Milan, Sydney – these aren’t ulu destinations American Express is taking you to. And of course, there’ll naturally be many people vying to win these tickets. The good news is, you don’t need to guess which destination you’re accumulating lucky draw chances for. They’ve all been predetermined:

12-months-draw_period

If you just want to win a pair of business class tickets, and you don’t care about the destination, one hack is to spend more during the qualifying period of the not-so-“hot” places. Alternatively, if you’re really keen on a certain destination, then wait till the qualifying period to apply for the credit card, since you can earn up to 20 lucky draw chances just for applying.

For example, if you want to fly to Cape Town? Then you’d wanna apply for the American Express Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Ascend Card today before the month ends. Don’t say bo jio!
