Grow Rich, Singapore Style

Every now and then, you come across a shared article on your news feed that tells of a heart warming, tear jerking, smile inducing, rags-to-riches type story, that makes you go “Good on them!” It usually involves an individual, down in the dumps with not a dime to his name, who somehow turns the tide and bounces back beyond anyone’s wildest expectations.

Or maybe someone tells you about some ordinary man on the street, with an average job or salary, who makes one good decision after another and ends up with assets and property that he should not logically be able to afford.

Either way, you’re probably lying if you didn’t think to yourself “Why can’t that happen to me?”, at least once before.

The Reality of Financial Planning

We’ve all heard the usual adages about the importance of saving money, spending within your means and investing in the right things. Still, how many of us are born with the instinctive skills and knowledge to be able to make such good financial decisions? The answer is probably none of us.

We at MoneySmart think it’s a really good idea to hear some of these tried and tested principles about financial planning, at least once in your life. And probably sooner than later. The sooner you give yourself a chance to learn these things, the sooner you’ll be able to apply them into your life with good effect and reap the benefits of starting as early as possible.

Well, here’s a great opportunity for you to get first hand advice from industry experts on how you can manage your money in a down-to-earth and accessible way, not in the “Here’s How I Made $1 Million in 5 Minutes”, $2,000 conference fee sort of way.

The Event Details

When we said the event was “accessible”, we weren’t kidding. Most of these investment seminars charge you an arm and a leg for attendance, and essentially what they’re telling you is “Yeah, the secret to making tons of money is by charging you a bomb for course fees!”. For the cost of a meal, you could learn life skills that will make you back that course fee many times over.

Come hear from experts Alfred Chia, CEO of SingCapital and Mohd Ismail, CEO of PropNex, as well as our very own MoneySmart CEO, Vinod Nair as they candidly share some of their own experiences with handling money.

If you are interested in signing up, you can do so here. See you at the event!

The very reason we come to this website is to have access to free financial knowledge and information, not for you to tell us the existence of a workshop where you will be charging your followers. When you post content like this, you are discouraging your audience from coming back to the website. Sugarcoating it doesn’t help as well.

It’s totally up to you if you want to sign up.
Some advice are free, others need to come from the horses’ mouths, which the writers themselves can’t offer (or else they would be doing something else other than just writing right now, right?) hence the small $20 fee which I, an avid moneysmart reader, will gladly consider.

Besides, the amount of free content available here far outweighs this sort of advertorials. It’s not as though “you need to register your name email and number and CC number in order to continue surfing this blog”

Give these guys a break man
