Sentosa’s original name was Pulau Belakang Mati, which translates to “the Island of Death from Behind”. It’s pretty appropriate, since after a trip to Sentosa it does feel like somebody stabbed you from behind, took your wallet and left you to die.

It’s not all that bad now though, since you can get discounted tickets to Sentosa attractions on sites like KLOOK, Voyagin, Weekend Go Where and Changi Recommends and there are free stuff like the Merlion and Fort Siloso.

But after going to these attractions, it’s hard to avoid starving to death without spending lots of cash. Not all Sentosa restaurants were created equal, after all.

Here are 9 budget-friendly food places in Sentosa that you can have a meal for under $10.

McDonald’s at RWS (from $5)

Take heart! While Sentosa costs a bomb to enter (unless you walk or cycle, then it’s free), The McDonald’s at RWS is not more expensive than any regular McDonald’s outlet. So if you’re on a budget, the cheapest meal you can get on the island is probably the good ol’ Extra Value Meal at Macs that costs only $5.

Thank God for the Malaysian Food Street at Resorts World Sentosa, because it is now the next cheap place to sit down to a meal at Sentosa with a wide variety. You can feast on delights like Penang Assam Laksa, Penang Hainan Lor Mee, Claypot Chicken Rice at $8 per meal.

Obviously, prices are going to be around twice of what you’d pay at a food centre in the heartlands, but this is Sentosa, so they are considered relatively cheap.
