If James Bond had been Singaporean, he’d have been stuck ordering Tiger Beer rather than martinis just to cut costs. That’s why Cheers is something we’ve been waiting for our entire adult lives.

The mobile app, from the creators of popular dining app The Entertainer, snags you 1-for-1 drinks at bars, restaurants and nightspots all over Singapore.

Yup, you heard that right. It’s now going to cost half the price to get drunk, *cough cough* I mean, pair your meals with good wine.

How to use Cheers to get cheap drinks

All you have to do is download the Cheers application and get a subscription. Browse the list of bars, clubs and restaurants, then rock up to your favourite one and order your poison of choice.

When you call for the bill, present the waitstaff with your phone displaying the offer you’d like to claim, key in your Cheers PIN (which you can set when you sign up) and then smirk to yourself as you check the receipt and verify that you’ve gotten two drinks for the price of one.

The offers on Cheers range from single drinks to bottles, jugs and double cocktails. We all know how much one of those can cost, so imagine how much you’ll save with the 1-for-1 offer.

Where can these cheap drinks be had?

So, the question now is, are there any legitimately cool places you can use Cheers at?

There’s plenty to choose from, from hipster bars with cocktail menus that sound like they’re from another planet to nightspots whose sole reason for existence is to make people forget their own names.

Here are our top picks:

Mr Punch Public House

26 Seah Street Singapore 188382

This rooftop bar above the whimsical MINT Museum of Toys is one of the City Hall area’s best kept secrets.

Enjoy one-for-one on a house beverage, a bottle of house wine and a bottle of house spirits with Cheers.

Lepark

1 Park Road #06-00 People’s Park Complex Singapore 059108

If you wear hipster glasses and your hobbies involve taking selfies on rooftops, you’re probably already a fan of Lepark. This joint, nestled on the People’s Park Centre rooftop, and plays host to events with so-hip-it-hurts names like “Getai Electronica”.

Use Cheers to enjoy one-for-one on a cocktail, a bottle of house wine and two house beverages at Lepark.

Nutmeg and Clove

10 Ann Siang Hill Singapore 069789

Nutmeg and Clove is the quintessential cocktail bar. Located in the Ann Siang area in a historical shophouse (duh), the place is a mix of retro and industrial chic.

Use Cheers to get one-for-one on a house beverage, a bottle of house wine and one of their famous signature cocktails.

Pollen Terrace

18 Marina Gardens Drive #01-09 Flower Dome Singapore 018953

The Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay is home to Pollen, one of the most striking venues in Singapore. You feel like you’re in a very upmarket garden and a space shuttle at the same time. Expensive, but that also means you save even more with the one-for-one offer.

Enjoy one-for-one on two bespoke cocktails, a bottle of house wine and a bottle of house spirits with Cheers.

LongPlay

4 Haji Lane Singapore 189197

There’s more to Haji Lane/Arab Street than Blu Jaz and Piedra Negra. LongPlay spins jazz, blues and motown vinyl tracks all night long, all while smouldering in a stylish shophouse location.

You get to claim one-for-one on two bespoke cocktails, a bottle of house wine and a bottle of house spirits.

Shanghai Dolly

River Valley Road #02-01-B Clarke Quay Singapore 179021

Unleash your inner Ah Beng at Shanghai Dolly, Singapore’s most popular Mandopop venue.

One-for-one on a house beverage, bottle of house wine and bucket of beers will ensure you reach your happy place as early on in the night as possible.

Mad Men Attic Bar

11 North Canal Road #03-02 Singapore 048824

Are you or any of your close friends bankers or lawyers? Then you’ve probably already been to Mad Men Attic Bar, with its rooftop view of the CBD skyline and live bands.

Chase away the workday blues with one-for-one on a bottle of house wine, bottle of house spirits and two house beverages.

How is Cheers different from The Entertainer?

Cheers comes from the creators of The Entertainer, a mobile app that works in much the same way and is a hit with Singaporean foodies.

So what are the differences between the two apps, you might ask?

Well, it’s simple. The Entertainer gets you one-for-one main courses at restaurants, cafes and other dining venues.

Cheers gets you one-for-one drinks, bottles, jugs, buckets and double cocktails at a range of bars, nightspots and restaurants that serve drinks.

Once you’re at the venue, you use Cheers in the same way as you use The Entertainer. Simply select the deal you want, present it to the staff before you pay and then congratulate yourself on the money you’ve saved.

What if I want to eat AND drink at a discount?

If you love your food and your alcohol in equal measure, you can save a ton of cash by signing up for both The Entertainer and Cheers.

For the month of December 2016 only, every subscription to The Entertainer comes with a Cheers app absolutely free!

That means you pay just $95 for both apps, which would normally cost $250 altogether.

Click here to get Cheers and The Entertainer and stop paying full price for your drinks and meals!

One last tip: don’t forget to use the promo code MONEYSMART2017 for a chance to win a 2D1N stay at Gayana Eco Resort off the stunning cost of Borneo.

In my previous life, I was a property lawyer who spent most of my time struggling to get out of bed or stuck in peak hour traffic. These days, as a freelance commercial writer, I work in bed, on the beach, in parks and at cafes, all while being really frugal. I like helping other people save money so they can stop living lives they don't like.
