Using Singtel CAST is super easy. You won’t need to buy a set-top box or commit to a long contract. Subscriptions start from $5.90 a month, which is a lot cheaper than your cable TV subscription.
You’ll also be able to get popular entertainment apps such as Viu Premium (from $4.90/month), HBO GO (from $13.98/month), HOOQ (from $4.90/month), FOX+ (from $19.90/month) and Netflix (from $10.98/month) on Singtel CAST so you pay only one consolidated bill.
As you can see, there are lots of channels to choose from, and you’ll have to decide which ones are most appropriate for your household. Here are some possible scenarios.
Couple with a new BTO
Sundra and Amy have just moved into their BTO, and they’re excited about not having to fight over the remote control with their parents and siblings.
Now that he has his own place, Sundra’s friends regularly come over to watch the Premier League, armed with six packs of Tiger Beer. Sports Plus, at $49.90 a month, will get Sundra complete coverage of all Premier League matches, as well as coverage of tournaments and grand slams for sporting events such as tennis and F1 races.
Amy, on the other hand, is more into Korean dramas and has been known to binge watch an entire series over the weekend. Viu Premium, which costs $4.90 a month, would be ideal for her, as it offers access to Korean dramas, variety shows and other Asian entertainment.
Cost: Sports Plus + Viu Premium = $49.90 + $4.90 = $54.80 per month
3 generations in one household
The Tays live in a three-generation household consisting of working couple Roy and Cindy, their two mischievous kids and Cindy’s retired parents.
As Cindy’s parents speak mainly Hokkien and Mandarin, Chinese Plus would be ideal for them, as they can catch up on Chinese drama series, movies and variety shows.
Meanwhile, the kids would love to have Learning Plus, so they can enjoy their favourite Disney, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network shows… only after they’re done with their homework, of course.
And for Roy and Cindy, there’s nothing quite like vegging out in front of a TV series on Lifestyle Plus after a long day at work. Cindy gets recipe ideas from cooking shows on Asian Food Channel, while Roy is hooked on Travel Channel’s Expedition Unknown.
Thanks to a current Singtel promo, the Tays can now subscribe to Learning Plus, Chinese Plus and Lifestyle Plus for just $5.90 a month, each. What’s more, if they’re existing Singtel members, they get the first 3 months free.
Cost: Learning Plus + Chinese Plus + Lifestyle Plus = $5.90 x 3 = $17.70 per month
Single working professional
Aaron is a bachelor living in a chic one-bedroom apartment near the CBD. A movie and history buff, he spends most of his downtime travelling and visiting exhibitions.
For lazy nights in, he turns to international channels with on-demand films and series. HBO GO, which costs $13.98 a month, is his go-to channel for HBO Original series and Hollywood blockbusters. Game of Thrones might be over, but there are more than enough alternatives available, such as the critically acclaimed war series Band of Brothers, satirical family drama Succession, superhero drama Watchmen, fantasy adventure series His Dark Materials and the chilling Handmaid’s Tale, based on Margaret Atwood’s classic novel.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Plus, which costs just $5.90 a month, lets him get his fill of series and lifestyle shows from AXN, Animax Warner Brothers and more, from the thought-provoking to the trashy.
Cost: HBO GO + Entertainment Plus = $13.98 + $5.90 = $19.88 per month
