Instagram is flooded with travel photos now that borders have opened up and Singapore has moved to Dorscon Green. Take that, Covid!
After over two years of not being able to travel, it now feels like the world is our oyster. And there’s no better way to fly than for free — by redeeming tickets using air miles!
Previously, the main ways to earn miles were by taking flights and using air miles credit cards. Now, the Kris+ App gives you a way to supercharge your miles-earning, with the highest rates on everyday spend that I personally have ever seen. All this while allowing you to double-dip on your credit card rewards.
With over 1,500 partner outlets to spend and earn miles at, and the convenience of being able to manage your miles account on a single app. Kris+ is essential for anyone who’s serious about earning miles through the KrisFlyer programme.
Here are five reasons why we love earning miles with the Kris+ App.
1. Earn up to 9 miles per dollar
When it comes to miles credit cards, an earn rate of more than 4 miles per dollar is rare. But guess what? The Kris+ app lets you earn up to a spectacular 9 miles per dollar!
What’s more, the miles accumulated through Kris+ are awarded on top of other credit card miles or rewards. So, if you pay with a good miles credit card through Kris+, you could potentially earn up to 13 miles per dollar (assuming you are using a credit card with 4 miles per dollar spend).
This fabulous earn rate can really accelerate your journey towards accumulating enough air miles. 9 miles per dollar is the highest miles earn rate for everyday spending in Singapore! And best of all, there’s no cap on the number of miles you can earn. Just imagine how many miles you can amass on big ticket purchases like a large family meal, new household appliances, wellness packages or even a new branded watch!
Earning miles with Kris+ is super easy. Just scan the QR code at the store with your phone using the Kris+ app and pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay through the app.
2. Stackable with credit card rewards + no cap on your rewards
You can have your cake and eat it too! Kris+ can be used in addition to your existing credit cards, since all rewards are stackable!
Basically, you can pay through Kris+ using a miles credit card so you can earn miles through Kris+ AND your credit card’s miles, rewards, cashback and so on. Payment through Kris+ is enabled by Apple Pay (for Apple devices) or Google Pay (for Android devices), so you can link the card of your choice to either payment system.
There is no limit to the number of miles you can earn through Kris+, which is great news if you’re a big spender or have a big ticket item to buy.
There are also no minimum spending requirements or other complicated conditions. All you have to do is spend and earn miles, it’s that simple!
3. Make dining reservations, book a taxi and boost your miles-earning capability
Other than making purchases, another effortless way to earn miles is to book your next dining reservation using the Kris+ app. Each completed reservation rewards you with 100 miles.
You can also earn miles when you make cab bookings through the Kris+ app.
By the way, Kris+ lets you transfer points from other rewards programmes and turn them into miles at no fee. The exchange rate may be a bit lower, but you gain in terms of flexibility and not having to exchange points in a larger minimum block, unlike what is required by the usual bank rewards programmes.
4. More flexibility with your miles
The miles earned through Kris+ can be retained in the app wallet to offset future purchases at their merchants or used to redeem flights.
To redeem flights, simply transfer the miles in your Kris+ app to your KrisFlyer account at a conversion rate of 1:1. Note that you need to transfer miles from Kris+ to KrisFlyer within 7 days of accruing them.
You may also transfer miles from your KrisFlyer account to the wallet in Kris+ (150 miles = S$1) to spend at over 1,500+ merchants like Gong Cha, Paradise Group of restaurants, Harvey Norman, KrisShop and many more. That’s a good way to spend expiring KrisFlyer miles if you don’t foresee using them to redeem an award ticket.
In case you didn’t already know, the KrisFlyer programme by Singapore Airlines is absolutely free to join!
5. Deals, discounts and privileges galore
Kris+ is not just an app that lets you make payment and earn miles — it also offers users numerous deals and discounts!
Here’s a sneak peak at some of the basic perks Kris+ users get:
- 15% off weekday set lunch at TANOKE
- 1-for-1 main course on your birthday at WAKANUI Grill Dining
- Complimentary dessert with minimum spending at Aburi-EN
- $48 (u.p. $88) for IWA Hot Spa at Kenko Wellness Spa & Reflexology
- $38 (u.p. $297) for scalp treatment at PHS HAIRSCIENCE
- 10% off at Paris Baguette
- 20% off afternoon tea at Prego
There are also flash deals offering even bigger discounts, so don’t forget to check the app frequently.
Thanks to its array of perks, the Kris+ app lets you enjoy cost savings while you earn miles on your spending at the same time.
That’s not all! There are regular in-app campaigns and challenges that offer the chance to participate and win miles. Note: The rewards from challenges are not miles that can be transferred to your KrisFlyer account.
Kris+ also launches frequent Spend & Win games enabling you to enjoy a sure-chance prize with every qualifying transaction. There are no losers in this game — everybody is guaranteed to win something! For instance, in January 2023, the app was offering sure-chance to receive rebates between $1 to $20 (awarded in miles) with every transaction of at least $10.
Referring a friend earns you bonus miles as well! Both you and your friend get 750 KrisPay miles each (worth S$5 each) when your friend makes his/her first transaction with a minimum of S$3 spend. Note: The rewards from referrals are not miles that can be transferred to your KrisFlyer account. You can treat such miles as a cash equivalent.
The Kris+ app is revolutionising the mile accrual game as the only travel miles exclusive app on the market.
If you’re a travel addict, the Kris+ app is a must! Use it to earn air miles and get to your dream travel destination faster.
