It seems a bit silly to pay full price for movie tickets these days. Look, I’m not being dismissive here. But just have a look at how many movie discounts there are right now and you’ll soon realise how much money you’ve been wasting by paying in cash at the box office. Luckily, we’ve compiled this list so it won’t happen again. (Unless otherwise stated, promotions are not available on public holidays and eves of public holidays.)

Credit or Debit Card Holders

  • Cathay Cineplexes – $7 regular tickets, $8 3D tickets, add $2 for small popcorn before 6pm on Mon to Fri
  • Cathay Cineplexes West Mall – free Coke; $6 tickets for students in groups of at least 4
  • Golden Village – $7 tickets ($9 for 3D), $8 tickets ($10 for 3D) at GV Max Dolby Atmos, $10 tickets ($12 for 3D) at D-BOX before 6pm on Mon to Fri
  • Shaw Theatres – $6.50 regular tickets, $9 3D tickets, $12 IMAX digital tickets and $14 IMAX 3D tickets before 6pm on Mon to Fri

Senior citizens

  • Cathay Cineplexes – $5 tickets before 6pm on Mon to Fri, add $3.50 for small popcorn; free coffee or tea at West Mall
  • Golden Village – $4.50 tickets before 6pm from Mon to Fri
  • Shaw Theatres – $4 tickets, $12 IMAX Digital tickets and $14 Imax 3D tickets before 6pm on Mon to Fri

Parents and children

  • Cathay Cineplexes – free ticket for child under 7 with purchase of one ticket before 2pm on Mon to Fri; save $2 on hotdog combo
  • Golden Village – free ticket for child under 12 with purchase of 2 tickets before 2pm on Mon to Sun
  • Shaw Theatres – free ticket for child under 7 with purchase of one adult ticket before 2pm on Mon to Fri; $0.90 off Ribena popcorn combo

Other members or customers

  • M1 customers – Cathay Cineplexes – 1-for-1 tickets on Sunday for first 400 customers
  • NTUC members – Cathay Cineplexes – $7 tickets on Mon to Thu, $9.50 tickets on Fri to Sun, $1 off popcorn combo
  • PAssion Card members – $7 tickets on Mon to Thu, $9.50 tickets on Fri to Sun, free promo-sized popcorn with every 2 tickets
  • nEbO Plus! card – Cathay Cineplexes – $7/$9.50 tickets with nEbO Plus! Card

  • Cathay Cineplexes – 4 movie tickets + 2 medium popcorn combos for $50; free $10 E!pass at West Mall with ticket purchases for any day made on Mon to Thu
  • Cathay Cineplexes West Mall – free ticket upgrade to Elite Club/Ultima before 6pm on Mon to Thu
  • Golden Village Jurong Point – $7 tickets when you book with iGV app
  • Golden Village – $1 off GVmax Dolby Atmos tickets when you book with iGV app
