As any avid reader of MoneySmart should know, paying for everything by credit card is smart because it lets you earn rewards points, air miles, cashback and more as you spend.

But there are some big-ticket items that you can’t pay by credit card directly without using a separate card payment platform—things like tax, rent, condo management fees, education expenses and electricity bills. Anyone who fervently collects air miles or rewards points has no doubt lamented how much they could have earned on these expenses had they been able to charge them to their credit card.

Sure, you can pay by cheque, but in this day and age when everything is done electronically, spending an extra three minutes writing a cheque can feel positively archaic and more troublesome than it needs to be.

However, with Citi PayAll, a new payment feature introduced for Citi Credit Cards, Citi is now making it possible for you to earn miles and rewards when you pay for certain big ticket items that you often can’t pay for by credit card—in just a few simple steps and by paying a fee.

Citi PayAll lets you earn air miles and rewards in new ways

Here’s an example of the benefit you can get if you set up payments for S$6,528 per month paying for things like your rent, school fees and condominium management fees through Citi PayAll using your Citi PremierMiles Visa card.

In a nutshell, Citi PayAll lets you enjoy all the benefits and convenience of paying by credit cards when you make payment using the Citi Mobile® App.

All you need to do is login to Citi Mobile App, create a new payment and fill in the recipient’s details and how much you want to pay. You then choose which card you want to pay with, before getting a summary of the payment details and fees.

If you want to find out more about how to do this, you can head on over to the Citi PayAll page.

Using Citi PayAll, you’ll now be able to earn miles and rewards on thousands of dollars worth of spending every year in a convenient and fuss-free way. However, do remember to check that the payee details and the amount that you’re paying are accurate to ensure that you’re not overpaying, because you may not be able to recover the payment from the recipient and Citi will not be responsible for any losses you may incur in this regard.

Also, Citi PayAll’s Terms & Conditions warn that an overpayment of taxes may result in the bank clawing back any rewards you’ve received for the overpaid amount.
