Couldn’t get your hands on tickets to this year’s National Day Parade? Don’t worry – you’re probably not missing much. Well, maybe you’re missing out on this year’s free “Fun Pack”, but if it’s any consolation, you can watch this video just to remind yourself that it’s not that big a deal.
Besides, there are plenty of other activities to take part in this National Day weekend that don’t involve the spending of cash – yes, I’m talking about FREEBIES! So whether you have no plans this weekend and feel like going out… or saying at home in front of the television – you still win.
Without further ado, here are 5 National Day freebies you should definitely take advantage of this weekend:
#1 Free Admission to the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands
It’s hard to use the words “free” and “Marina Bay Sands” in the same sentence. But here it is – this National Day weekend, you can visit the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands for FREE!
From 9 to 10 August 2014 the ArtScience Museum will be offering free admission to its Annie Leibovitz exhibit, featuring photos from one of America’s most famous celebrity photographers.
If you’re a fan of photography (or just anything with the word “FREE” in front of it), you can save yourself the $15+ admission fee and check it out this weekend.
#2 Free Admission to the National Museum of Singapore
Museums are always a popular destination for Singaporean families – unfortunately not too many people know that many of Singapore’s museums actually have “Open House” days where you can get FREE admission.
On 9 August 2014, the National Museum of Singapore will offer FREE admission to all of its galleries and even provide a variety of activities for the kids to take part such as creating a mask or playing a few “old school” games like hopscotch (remember that?).
On another note, if you have kids who are comic book fans, the Singapore Philatec Museum (which also has FREE admission on 9 August 2014) is running a DC Comics superhero exhibit that’ll be sure to entertain them.
#3 SingTel Offers Free Unlimited Data and Select mio TV Channels for Postpaid Customers
Are you unfortunate fortunate enough to be a SingTel customer? If so, then I’ve got good news for you – this National Day weekend, SingTel is offering a pair of freebies to its postpaid mobile and mio TV customers.

#4 StarHub Offers Free Preview for ALL Channels for StarHub TVPostpaid Customers
Maybe you’re not “fortunate” enough to be a SingTel customer. Does that mean StarHub customers won’t get any freebies this National Day weekend? Nope. StarHub is offering its StarHub TV customers a FREE preview too.
From 8 to 11 August 2014, all postpaid StarHub TV customer will get a FREE preview of over 160 channels including Fox Movies Premium, CinemaWorld, Sports HD and Cartoon Network.
So if you just want to spend your National Day weekend away from the crowds – there’s nothing wrong with being a couch potato this weekend.
#5 Free Games, Activities and Music at the Esplanade
The Esplanade is pretty much “ground zero” when it comes to National Day weekend celebrations – so expect to be engulfed by massive crowds of people hoping to take part in the National Day festivities.
That being said, if you’re willing to endure the crowds, you can take part in a variety of FREE games, activities and music events being held at the Esplanade during National Day weekend.
From 8 to 10 August 2014, you can take part many free activities such as listening to music from the Qilin Group, playing “kampong” games like marbles and top spinning, and even watching a “big band” performance from Summertimes Big Band.
