The coolest festival with the hottest music acts is washing up on our shores.

Waterbomb Singapore 2024 is South Korea’s biggest water music festival, and it’s coming to Singapore for the first time this Aug 2024! If you’ve always wanted to dance in the rain over the soundtrack of your favourite Korean music, this is probably the closest you’re going to get.

The 2-day festival will be held at Siloso Beach on 24 and 25 Aug 2024, and is expected to draw a crowd of 20,000 festival-goers from Singapore and the region. Whew, that’s a lot of people. Are ticket sales for this beach party going to be an online bloodbath, a lá Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour?

We can at least say this: There’s a way to get your hands on festival tickets before anyone else. As UOB is the presenting sponsor for the event, UOB Cardmembers get access to pre-sales for standard tickets from 9 May 2024. Here’s all you need to know.

1. What is the Waterbomb Festival?

Imagine a music festival where the beats of K-pop, hip-hop, and EDM are only half the fun—water guns and water fights add chaotic entertainment to the already high-energy concert atmosphere.

Originating in South Korea, Waterbomb is not just another music event; it’s a summer spectacle where top-tier artists perform amidst a lively water fight. Festival-goers usually don beachwear and arm themselves with water guns, plus get sprayed generously with water from the stage on top of that.

Expanding beyond its Korean roots, Waterbomb has now captured the hearts of global audiences, with festivals making waves in Japan and Thailand too. This year, Waterbomb is also making its debut splash in the US, Vietnam, the UAE, China, and of course, Singapore.

2. When and where will Waterbomb Singapore 2024 be held?

Waterbomb Singapore 2024 is going to be held on 24 and 25 Aug 2024 on the sunny shores of Singapore’s Siloso Beach (where goodness knows we need a refreshing reprieve from the heat!). All that splashing good fun on a beach? Clearly, this is a far cry from just a music festival—it’s a Korean music concert, massive water fight, and beach party all rolled into one.

My top recommendation is the UOB EVOL Credit Card for its 8% cashback on online spend (yes, your Waterbomb ticket counts), if you spend a minimum of $600 a month (if you don’t, keep reading).

If you aren’t a big spender—or conversely, are such a big spender that you would bust the EVOL’s $60 monthly cap, opt for the UOB Absolute Cashback Card instead. This is a $0 minimum spend, unlimited spend, 1.7%  cashback card. You may have heard it’s getting nerfed, but that won’t affect you for your Waterbomb tickets.

Finally, if you just want a credit card for everyday groceries, food, and shopping, the UOB One Card is a good fit with up to 10% cashback at partners like McDonald’s, Shopee, Cold Storage, Giant, Guardian, 7-Eleven, Grab, and SimplyGo (bus and train rides). You’re not going to earn 10% cashback on your Waterbomb tickets, but you’ll have a card you can use at many other merchants.

7. Tips for securing tickets to Waterbomb Singapore 2024

Follow these steps for the best chances of snagging a ticket to Waterbomb Singapore 2024 via the UOB pre-sale.

  1. Apply for a UOB credit card or debit card well in advance (read: right now). Swifties flooded UOB with new credit card applications last year, leading to longer processing times.
  2. Set an alarm for 2 May 2024, 10-15 minutes before early bird ticket pre-sales open at 12 noon.
  3. Create a KKday account in advance. You don’t want to have to bother with this while other people are checking out with their tickets!
  4. Keep your UOB Card on hand before the presale—you’ll probably need to input the first few digits of your credit card number.
  5. Decide on how many tickets you want to buy. Once pre-sales start, that isn’t the time to jio your friends and ask if they’re free.
  6. Check your internet connection on 2 May 2024 before the pre-sale start time.
  7. Refresh the ticket sales page 5 minutes before ticket sales open.
  8. Once the pre-sale starts, move fast! Best of luck!

If you’re from another country outside of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, you can’t book a ticket for Waterbomb Singapore 2024 via the UOB pre-sale on 2 May 2024. I would suggest you check out where else the Waterbomb Festival is headed on its World Tour—Japan, Xiamen, Bangkok, Taipei, Hong Kong, Ho ChinMinh and Dubai are already confirmed.

You could also wait for the general public ticket sales, but there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to snag a ticket if the demand is high.
